In the near future are plans for educational events at local schools, Powwows, and anywhere there is an opportunity to share with others about our ways. Our focus is on Santa Rosa and Escambia County but we have been called to provide support to many areas, both near and far. The Echota Cherokee Tribe of Florida is based in Defunak Springs and was founded in 1979. Our membership includes those from many Native or Tribal backgrounds who have chosen to come together and follow the Cherokee lifestyle and ways. The Paint Clan oversees the tribal functions in Santa Rosa and Escambia County. We are always in the process of building and increasing our food pantry to meet the growing needs of our area. Our food pantry is built on donations and generosity of those with an understanding of the overwhelming needs of our community. We are called on regularly to distribute food to needy families. We accept non-perishable food items, clothing, and most anything to benefit those in need within our community
