A call for Immediate Help has been heard!
Family Burned Out of Home!!!
"A need for help is being heard" (As of August 20th 2007 5:oopmc)
Once again we have received a request for assistance for a family whose home
(mobile home) burned. This family has two young children; a boy & a girl.

Due to donations from the extended family, the boy seems to be getting
adequate clothing. But, there are no young girl relatives to send things her way.
She is small and wears a size 4; although I am sure they would be glad to get
anything, even if it was a little large.

I have gone through the donated items here and unfortunately, there were
only 5 or 6 articles of clothing that we have on hand to pass on of that size.
Thanks to a concerned individual the last time we asked for clothing donations,
he has given a bag of toys that are perfect for a girl her age. Autumn Moon
and I have gone through the bag, put together what was in good condition, and
filled a "Bratz" backpack for her.

The Red Cross has put the family up in a hotel for three days; but that time
has run out. We are furnishing them with our list of resources for this
area. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. They will eventually
need household items, but currently have nowhere to keep them.

WaDo to everyone who tirelessly answers the call when we have requests to
help our neighbors in the community.

I will pass on more info as it becomes available and will let everyone know
if/when we have enough to fill their needs. Thank You!!

UPDATE
Osda Sunalei (Good Morning)~
A quick update on the request for assistance for the family who needed
clothing for the young daughter-

A special Thank You to our caring group, who once again, has met the call
for help with overwhelming generosity. I spent several hours yesterday picking
up, sorting, and bagging clothing and other "comfort" items for the small
victim of the fire. Kim (Singing Bird) is delivering those items today.

The family has, through efforts of concerned groups and agencies, acquired
an apartment. We have some household items we will send their way when they are
moved in and have determined what else is needed. We have sent them our list
of resources for the area and will provide other support as we can. While
there are many resources out there, often in times of disaster, there are
frustrations and so much red tape, that things seem hopeless; that is one reason
I compiled the list, so in moments of calm, the victims can sit down, gather
their thoughts, and have a place to start looking for assistance.

A special note: Two of our youngest members (Little Bear and Cactus Flower)
upon hearing of the tragedy of the little girl, have offered to share their
own personal items (toys, etc). This fills me with Pride and renewed hope for
the future of our Clan/Tribe. WaDo!!!!!!!!!!!!

A special "Thank You' to-

Standing Bear (Vince)
Distant Thunder (Virginia) for donations, washing, drying, folding,
bagging....... etc.
Gray Feathers (Michael)
Rachel (Morning Dove)
Kim (Singing Bird)
Zondra (Autumn Moon)
Susan (of the Bird Clan, Echota Cherokee Tribe)
Kacey & David of Pampered Pets
And to those on our list who have stepped up and provided support

We will continue to gather things to help this family, and the others we
know will have specific needs in the future. A goal/dream that is discussed
frequently is to one day have a "Helping Hand' type of center; but our 'plate' is
very full at the moment with all our projects that are in the works. The
last several weeks have been a shining example of how our group can work
together and succeed! I am grateful and proud of everyone involved! We are a CAN DO
group, as evidenced by all the hard work of the last few weeks.
